Just like a billion other people, I took this idea from Chris Brogan’s post “Your 3 Goals for 2009″.

Last year I had a theme that I knew God had put on me for 2008. It was “Stretch”, and boy did he ever! I feel like this past year changed me in ways I can’t even begin to explain. I like smaller yearly goals because I’m not good at focusing on them if the list gets longer than just a few. If you can manage a 10 item list of yearly goals then God Bless You! I just ain’t that good. This is my 2009 3 Word list and a brief explanation of each and what I’ll have to do to achieve them.

FUEL • RELATIONSHIPS • DESTROY

FUEL. For me to go to the next level in so many areas of my life I’m going to have to learn how to FUEL others. As a leader it means I must: Invest in, Train, Give Opportunity, Trust and Launch others to the next level that they need to be at. At home it means I have to give: Time, Attention, Energy and Priority to my wife and these little people that will be my legacy long after I’m gone. In my spiritual journey it means that I have to FUEL myself through His Word, Prayer and Worship better than I ever have in my life.

RELATIONSHIPS. This year I want to develop more relationships and make the ones I have even deeper than they are now. I want to have relationships with more people that aren’t exactly like me and maybe even disagree with. I need those “coarse” relationships to keep me healthy and I think it’ll broaden my world view and challenge my predispositions.

DESTROY. I want 2009 to be the year that I destroy people’s opinion of me. I have no desire to be a people pleaser, but do want to be a pleasing aroma. I have become increasingly aware of the impression I give to people about my demeanor, attitude and general personality. I want to DESTROY that from the inside out. That means changing ME from the inside out. Yeah, that means being noticeably nicer.

Here’s a short link list of some other’s doing the 3 Words deal. Check them out.

2nd ANNUAL DADDY DAUGHTER WEEKEND

File Under: everyday dup     20 Nov 2008 09:16 pm

The Wife and Sage are flying off to Bradenton tomorrow morning to visit the Young clan. They’re real excited about little Charley. That means me and Brie are left to fend for ourselves until Monday. That means lots of candy(kidding), sleeping late(doubtful) and whatever kind of partying a 2 year old girl can handle(princess dresses and chocolate milk). Actually it’s gonna be pretty fun. I’ll miss my main girl and “Pants” but it’ll be nice for a little time with Brie. I’ve got a movie and some other fun stuff planned. I guarantee that one of us will be completely exhausted and ready for mommy to come home by monday. Which one is highly debatable.

LIL DUP 2: ELECTRIC BOOGALOO

File Under: brutally honest dup, everyday dup, lil dup     31 May 2008 11:48 am

It’s been a while. I’m back. Only temporary though. Like I told you. This blog is about to change, and that’s hopefully sooner than later. It all depends on how my begging and pleading for help turns out.

Anyway, as some of you may or may not know the next lil dup will be here on Monday, June 2, at 12:30pm. We’re really excited and can’t wait to share it with everyone. That being said; since I haven’t been posting and interweb access in the hospital will be iffy if possible at all, I wanted to drop a couple of links on you where you can keep track of the action.

1. http://twitter.com/dup
This is a little something I’ve been using for a while now. It kicks butt, it’s fast, easy to use and may be the best thing since sliced bacon. If you’ve never seen or heard of twitter HERE IS A GREAT YOUTUBE VIDEO that is the best explanation I know of to help you out. Anyway, this is where the action will happen. Oh, sign up today, make me your friend. For every sign-up an angel’s robe gets upgraded to silk. Probably not.

2. http://twitpic.com/photos/dupкомпютри втора употреба
This is an add on to twitter. Here I’ll post pictures as stuff happens. If you follow along on twitter you’ll get the updates that link right to these very same pictures.

3. http://twitter.com/mama_dup
This is Nicole’s twitter. Due to the interweb situation we talked about earlier, she won’t be blogging much, but once we get situated in a room at the hospital I’m sure she’ll be twitting hard core. You’ll want to check that out as well.

Once we get home, probably Wednesday afternoon, normal blogage and twitterage should resume. Thanks for shoutin out some prayers for us. We certainly appreciate it.

That’s the update. Peace be with you, and Seacrest out!

HOW WE ROLL

Elmo’s Biggest Fan don’t play. Even when the situation calls for quiet she finds a way to crank it to 11. Probably listening to the Beastie Boys cause that’s how we roll.

This is what I look like on Sunday afternoons at about 2:30. Absolutely wasted. This is after directing 4 weekend services with a guest speaker (awesome messages from Craig Groeschel), 5 different communicators on stage and 44 total trasitions. What a weekend huh?

ABOUT THAT TIME

File Under: brutally honest dup, everyday dup     27 Feb 2008 11:17 pm

So, I’m doing some stuff like cleaning up my sidebar and header pics, and all of a sudden it dawned on me: I hate this theme. Well, maybe hate is a strong word, but it’s seriously time for a change. That being said the hunt is on. Maybe I’ll go custom or maybe I’ll just settle for another lousy theme that I’ll be ready to change in 6 months. At any rate look for changes. Not soon, I ain’t got that much time, but soon-ish. Any and all suggestions are welcome, but please, be gentle.

WEEKEND HIGHLIGHT

File Under: church dup, everyday dup     25 Feb 2008 02:41 pm

This was the highlight of my weekend. I get the privilege to work everyday with some of the hardest working, talented people in ministry. Anywhere. They have the kinds of jobs that make it easy to forget what the main thing is. They give all they have to create awesome environments for people to experience Christ. This little scene made me realize that sometimes a “technical difficulty” can be a divine appointment. During the 10am Highland service a small snafu kept us from filming worship. I was brewing in my aggravation about it until I looked over and saw this. My man Tyrone had a chance to dip his feet in the pool for a few minutes. I guess God had bigger plans than one of His sons looking through a camera viewfinder while He was pouring out His spirit on us. Even camera guys need a dose of that. Go ahead boy, get yours!

HEAVY

File Under: brutally honest dup, everyday dup     13 Feb 2008 07:48 pm

I’m trying to wrap up my day here at the office so I can head to Bethany South for the Service/Celebration/Honoring for Amy Hart Stockstill. I want to be there, but another part of me wants to hide away from it. I’m normally not very moved by death, but Amy’s “going home” has kind of messed with me a little bit. I don’t hide the fact that death scares me, but this has been rather sobering.
I’ve thought alot these past two days about my family and friends. It makes me think about when I’m gone. I wonder what I might leave behind, what are people’s thoughts concerning what I’ve deposited into their lives(for better or worse) and how history will tell the story of Dup. I want to live a life that defies history to file me away under the category of “gone and forgotten.” I want history to be forced to have a spot that will show the impact of my life. Those I’ve done life with and the legacy I’ll leave behind in my children will hopefully have a story to tell.
I think maybe the scariest part of dying to me (besides the idea of claustrophobia) is that when I cease to live, I can possible cease to exist. I want to exist much past the expiration of this fleshly body. God let it be so.
